Survey

Most customers do not have the benefit of a "virgin port scenario" and thus a site survey is usually beneficial to get the most out of existing plant and equipment. It is not always the best policy to replace old for new especially when large capital costs are involved. Pelangi's ability to offer "in the field advice", including the refurbishment of existing equipment, will usually reduce costs. Modernisation programme costs invariably fall below those of replacement by new equipment. By utilising equipment already in the field or redefining new equipment more suited to local needs, Pelangi International Limited are able to offer a tailored solution to the customer's needs.

Installation

Once equipment is supplied to our customers they are not left with the problem of interconnection and assembly of the plant on site unless they specifically request it. Usually the site installation is rolled together with the customer's product training in the field to increase the transfer of technology to the end user. This includes steel tower and beacon erection, buoy laying and lighthouse conversions to solar power and remote monitoring capability.

Programmed Maintenance

Depending on how the client's staffing is organised, some of our customers depend on us to carry out regular planned maintenance visits to ensure that the equipment continues to function correctly in the harsh marine environment. This is normally arranged direct or through our network of local agents.

Consultancy

Our ability to define our client's requirements with due consideration for existing navigation hazards, local practise and the client's objectives, within the context of the practical limitations of the site and available budget, is seen as extremely beneficial by our customers. These services are usually supplied on a free of charge basis in commercial confidence and are particularly useful for customers who do not possess their own full time marine expertise.

Manufacture

One of the strengths of Pelangi International Limited is that we possess a large standard product range which is manufactured in low batch quantities and can therefore be altered to suit the customer's individual needs. This could include modification of mounting centres for existing equipment or the flexibility of new equipment to accommodate a variation of flashers and lamp changers from site to site thus facilitating standardisation which will reduce spares retention. Our ability to modify our standard products is recognised world wide and we are not restricted to a rigid catalogue.

Working to an ISO9000 standard as an Industrial Member of the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (I.A.L.A.) ensures that the equipment offered by Pelangi is fully compliant with current standards.
